Character Basics
Name: Edward Montgomery Virgil
City: Fall City, USA
Age: 26
Gender: Female (bordering on Androgyny/bigendered)
Biological Sex: Female
Birthdate: March 3rd, 2024
Birthplace: Cambridge, Massachusetts
PB: Carrey Mulligan

Appearance
Natural Hair/Eye Color: Brown/Brown
Height: 5' 2" and some change.
Body Type: Mousy, lacking curves, but with a sizeable ass and a bit of hip. She's never been more than a bill soaking wet until just recently, when crossing 25 and being sedentary a lot lead to the development of her first real curve. Edward could not be more thrilled to buy a Size 2 Jean.
Noticeable Scars/Tattoos/Piercings and Location: She has a tattoo of a G clef and music notes all the way up around her left arm, ending with the notes that make a crescendo across her collar bone. She has an appendix scar, along with the scars from her previous relationship all the way up her back and down her calves. Two ear piercings, normal, dot-types; one piercing for the tongue that no one notices anyway.
Clothing Style: http://localnumber69.com/blog/wp-content/uploads/2010/11/hipster-fashion-252x300.jpg

Edward does like to dress up in ties, vests, suspenders, you name it, she's got it. Matt Smith in Dr. Who wears a lot of clothing like she does, too:

Sad, but true. She will wear more feminine clothing, but she likes to rock the androgyny because she's got the disposable income to do so.

Background
Summary: Edward began life timid and has only become the moreso. Named as a way to assure her gender neutrality, her parents, both successful engineering instructors at MIT, were very occupied by their studies and disappointed in a child who was not scientifically inclined. She spent most of her time alone, an only child, driven to distract herself from the mundanity of her day-to-day existence with whatever toys her wealthy parents would afford her. Most of her youth this meant begging and pleading until an instrument would be placed in her hands. First the Viola; then the Guitar; then the Double-Bass; then the keyboard, the drums... by the time she was sixteen she had mastered six instruments, and was pre-accepted into a specialty arts college on grants.

You'll note the lack of detail in that passage. That's because there wasn't much detail to be had. Edward was average in high school. She was kissed once by a boy as she left the music room only so he could laugh with his friends about taking "Edwardina's" first kiss. There wasn't a bunch of bullying from her perspective, other than the nickname, and she went home, practiced, went to the concerts, did amazing, went home, practiced... she composed, sometimes... worked on her singing voice...

The moment she was allowed a laptop (when it proved impossible to succeed in school anymore without one) she was online, playing games, roleplaying. She began developing a strict internet identity, one that was twice the authentic as herself, shy, neglected, and without the confidence to speak her mind. She's now an expert roleplayer, and moved into Zenderael as one of the first beta-testers.

It wasn't until Fall City University, in their prestigious music program, that anything came of Edward. Her first day there she was singled out by a boy named Thomas, an attractive blond with a winsome smile and a handle on the guitar. She was won over by the fact that she'd been beautiful to someone - what this girl who always dressed in ties and vests and did nothing but play music, play music, play music. Through Thomas she gained the confidence to sing at a microphone, and it was through Thomas she began to write her own songs--and surprise!--people began to like them. It was through Thomas that she first tasted anything outside of her room in the dark. Her online friends felt betrayed by her sudden absences, and soon, Thomas was kissing her; soon Thomas was staying the night; soon Thomas and Edward were thinking of moving off-campus to get their own apartment; soon they did. Soon, she was so busy, she was hardly online anymore, and when she was Thomas saw it with revilement. She was neglecting her prince, after all.

And that's what she had to call him, too. Her prince. Her knight in shining armor. Once a day, at least, she had to remind him that he'd saved her from this terrible existence of internet and music. He'd brought her into the world, and he could take her out of it. Edward began having to text him before and after classes so he could "use the bathroom" and escort her to her next location. She would be "thankful" for his "protection," otherwise the newly "freed" Edward would be "harmed" by the world at large. It would not be a surprise to a reader of this history that Edward eventually--for reasons even unknown to herself--stopped texting. That day that she stopped texting, it will also not surprise the reader to read, was the day he began beating her. He hit her below the neck and above the elbows, places she never showed. Their "make-up" sex was rarely consensual. He used a whip and burned her. Edwards parents, still distant, only noticed the affair becoming nasty when she suddenly cancelled on Christmas. Thomas and Edward always came on Christmas... but she was hospitalized, you see. She couldn't make it.

It WILL surprise the reader to know that it was the internet that saved her. See, one does not live online for so long a time without lasting friendships. One such friend eventually noticed that she'd been absent for months at a time from text, phone, and the internet... something Edward, despite Thomas, had never done. They also knew her address. So one day, out of the blue, this intrepid friend came to Fall City and knocked on Edward's door. This friend then opened Edward's door. This friend then knocked Thomas cold. The incident struck Edward as appalling, embarassing, and most of all, what a real Knight in Shining Armor did. If Edward had been bisexual, she would've dated the girl in a moment, so conditioned was she to see "saving" as "loving." The gender barrier stopped Edward, but it didn't stop the strength she found in her friend, who'd she'd never met online before, appearing just in the nick of time.

Thomas was arrested, Edward freed from him, and she graduated, found a job with the Fall City Symphony, and is JUST famous enough on the Indie playing circuit to go on tours here and there with her guitar music/violin/viola melange. She's actually got the makings to go really big as she tends to fit in an eclectic Jazz section, but who knows? She's also flown out to guest on soundtracks for various films and television shows very often, as she tends to be the porcelain doll of a symphony. She never has a rider, she never complains about her treatment, and her talent puts her above all divas and other such nonsense.

Tell me two important memories.

1. Her friend appearing at her doorway. (Friend is left nameless so that someone in the game could possibly play her, or put their character in.) Edward was on the kitchen floor. Why she was there, she'll never remember. All she knows is she had chosen to sit there that day to work on her music, and was surrounded by sheets. Thomas was berating her over the notes on one of the sheets. Her nose was bleeding. She didn't think too much of it. When he'd started hitting her face she'd just bought better make-up. She was saved, after all, from the awfulness of her - and then there it was. This person who was just words on a screen. Real. Real enough to touch, feel, talk to, and hurt the Prince. The repeatable routine of her dynamic allowed her to shift gears instantly. She identifies courage with the smells of that moment--rice in the rice cooker, whiskey, an orange stuffed with cloves in water on the stove, the kitchen floor cleaner's acrid left-overs. Her apartment at the time was largely white and pale brown. These are now her favorite colors. Everything, everything became something new for Edward in that moment, and she'll never forget.

2. Edward's parents once had a fight about her love of music when she was just young enough she doesn't remember the age. Her father explained that her life seemed dead-end, and her mother lamented that no one in music makes any money, and she'd move to New York and become one of those Center hippies. Edward, herself, felt violated by this description of her future, and so in turn decided she'd be the most practical of the "hippies." She's practically Libertarian as a result.

Family members: Her parents are a collection of traits and nothing else, as that's all she knows of them. The trial and conviction of Thomas didn't bring the out of their shells much. In a way, they disappeared further into the wood-work.

Father: Roberto Virgil, 56, engineer, professor at MIT. Orderly, clean, professional, sharp, charismatic, stubborn.
Alice Virgil, engineer, 57, professor at MIT. Orderly, messy, professional, warm, charismatic, giving.

Pets: None.

Character Details

Favorite Food? Macaroni and Cheese, but not that boxed shit. No, this shit's got ham, gruyere, broccoli and a side of hot sauce for bite. She's mixing it with parmesan and heavy cream. This shit is fucking LE-GIT.

Favorite Color? White and a creamy brown.

Favorite Season? Winter. This girl is practically a feral sweater boy (http://www.tumblr.com/tagged/feral-sweater-boy)

Favorite Animal? Fish; specifically the tattooed parrot fish. She'd never keep one of her own. (http://2.bp.blogspot.com/_GzXYfK-lDG4/RoXOeEOa4lI/AAAAAAAABOI/UikvZ8HumAA/s1600/tattooed+parrot+fish.jpg)

Do they like television? YES. Edward is a very huge fangirl of very many a thing. Dr. Who? Check. Sitcoms? Check. Dramas? Check. PBS stuff? Check. Her TV is almost always on, and almost always set to 3D.

What's their favorite style of music? She likes anything and everything, but she still is a sucker for some good old Telemann concertos, or perhaps a Bach, or a Brahms, or even a classic Zimmer tune.

Have they considered being the gender/sexuality they're not? Edward sometimes wonders if she's a man, but realizes she's not, and doesn't really have the motivation to re-evaluate her gender. She sometimes even forgets she's a woman. She exists largely as a blob of Edward, but she's definitely, in root definition and function, a straight everyday female. She wishes she were a lesbian. Her prince was a woman, after all.

Would you say they're "picky"? Yes in a peculiar sort of way. Edward doesn't eat out; she MUST make her food at home, and she must have ONLY THE BEST ingredients, and she won't put ANYTHING IN HER BODY that isn't 100% THE HEALTHIEST VERSION. She doesn't always eat healthy, but she must have the highest quality anything within it. She will often fake eating food others offer her in exchange, or just not eat at all.

Do they alphabetize/color-coordinate their things? If so, which things? No. Edward is thoroughly depressed most of her life, and so she has zero cleanliness attributes. Everything is a mess all the time ever, but she is very averse to kitchen mess. Her kitchen is spotless. Her life is otherwise a pile of dirty underwear and refuse.

Internet Presence: she types all in lowercase, and is often riddle dwith typos because she's just typing too fast for her mouth. she's much more comfortable writing out her thoughts than speaking them. she's friendly, supportive, and always listens to whatever drama is going down from both sides. she stands as mediator. she rps ferociously and crs with everyone. her characters are adamant, strong, and present. they're well-rounded and fully-automatic. she's a virtuouso online, perfect in most ways. her internet name is "sasha," a female version of her favorite and longest lived alt. her gaming life and other internet life are kept entirely separate; i.e., her promotions as an artist are kept apart from her identity in game. her friends online know she's edward, but they don't know she's edward montgomery, and if they ask her career, she mentions she's part of the symphony, nothing about her cds or disks. a few particularly close friends know of her music career and are sworn to keep hush, especially since she's starting to achieve success.

Programs/Services and Screennames: stringsnthngz- AIM. stringedlady@gmail.com; facebook fanpage for her indy solo act, sasha and; facebook page for herself as edward montgomery, twitter under saschaandtours which is largely just fandom posts and omg thank you for liking me!!.

Play Style: EDWARD IS ALL RP ALL THE TIME EVER.

Her RPs are all high-level, and she generally just busts into a battle and starts roleplaying and if you like her and play with her she adds you and then you play forever and she is always messaging asking how you are doing and she probably spends hours a day just whispering about how someone is feeling and then she's being a tank for you somewhere or your hunter somewhere or your healer somewhere and--

To RP or not to RP?: RP ALL THE TIME EVER EVER EVER.

Personality
General Overview/Flaws, combined into one!: Edward's personality is a lush tapestry hidden behind a stone carapace. She's quirky, interested, devoting, honest, selfless, patient, giving, fussy, present, needy, scared, insecure? She spends forever and a day being a special person caught up in a disguise of boring. She is a fascinating mind that thinks largely in music and never puts that into oral words. Her friends online know her as having zany one-liners and random blips and twitches that no one can quite place. She makes sound effects for most anything she does. She's genuinely concerned about the well-being of spiders in her home. She talks to her macaroni and cheese and explains how delicious it will be as she makes it. She collects little crystal instruments. She draws, and badly.

She's passionate in all the right places. She has strong opinions. She's well-read (to a point.) She listens to varied news sources and has a strong synthetic mind. All of these things are positive traits that are reduced to rubble when the leading players hop in: low self-esteem and social phobia. She can't function, and so Edward, as a self, starts to collapse.

She'll give and give and give and give and never tell you you've hurt her feelings for fear you will go away (or worse yet) show up and hit her. After all, someone's shown up before to save her, right? She'll call you in the middle of the night if you ask; she's sometimes bought plain tickets for grifters; she... she's all that someone wants in support, but can't possibly create an exterior persona that's commercial enough or viable enough to win any sort of communication. She interacts with SO MANY PEOPLE via the stage, and there's nothing, nothing she can remember that was meaningful about it at the end of the day.

Quirks: Edward, when she gets excited, tends to want to show that graphically. she'llstarttotalkreallyfastandOMGIT'SJUSTSOCOOLGUYSCAN'TYOUJUST!!!

She winces when you raise your voice; even if it's in excitement.

She likes to cut her own hair by just grabbing hunks and chopping at it. She's very adept with a knife.

She decorates for EVERY holiday. Samhain? Check. Channukah? Check. There is a wall in the living room of her rather spacious apartment that inhabits every holiday decoration in a timely rotation. She in fact gets little thrills about finding a new holiday to decorate.

Three Complimentary Words: Supportive, Resilient, Patient
Three True-But-Hard-To-Hear Words: Gullible/Guileless/Spineless, Paranoid, Hyperphobic
